Planning and preparing palliative sedation

Clinicians should clearly explain to terminally ill patients their prognosis and life expectancy, and work collaboratively on goals of care. Palliative sedation is used at the end of life when a patient's symptoms are no longer treatable with conventional therapies. Recent studies have shown that palliative sedation is safe and does not accelerate death. In this lesson, you will learn about the different kinds of palliative sedation and how to administer medications to make sure you meet the goals of care of your patients.
