Frequently Asked Questions

General questions

I have a question about Medmastery. How can I reach you?

You can send us your questions directly in an email to [email protected], or you can fill out the contact form on our website at https://www.medmastery.com/contact.

What is Medmastery?

Medmastery is an online, video-based learning platform that was founded in 2014 by cardiologist Franz Wiesbauer with the goal of helping medical professionals improve their clinical skills. We develop educational courses on a variety of clinical subjects using the latest, evidence-based teaching principles.

Who’s Medmastery for?

Medmastery is designed for practicing clinicians. Our largest groups of subscribers are physicians and advanced practice providers. However, we also have a lot of medical students, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare providers among our subscribers.

I don’t have a medical qualification, can I still sign up with you?

Yes! Our courses are open to everyone who is interested in the topics and willing to learn.

What courses are you offering?

Please check out all our available courses in the course library. We are constantly working on new courses and new content is added monthly.

Will I be certified after completing your courses and be able to get a job?

We serve the continuing education needs for healthcare practitioners but we do not provide their credentialing or certification to initially practice. Please check with your specialty-specific credentialing body about licensing, board certification, etc. Many learners have reported that our courses have assisted them in being more confident when applying for jobs, and feeling more prepared for jobs in particular specialty areas. We hope that by taking our courses and helping you feel more confident in your clinical skills you find this to be true as well.

How can I get access to Medmastery courses?

You can start learning with our free account simply by signing up to Medmastery (no credit card needed). If you like our content you can enroll in a paid membership to get access to all learning material and claim CME credits for completed courses.

What's the difference between a free trial account and a paid account?

A free trial account gives you access to selected free chapters in each course. A paid membership gives you unlimited access to all of our courses and workshops for as long as it is active. Pro members can claim CME credits for completed courses.

What is the free trial account and how long is it valid?

The free trial account allows you to watch selected lessons from each of our courses, for free! The good news is that the trial account does not expire—it is content-limited but not time-limited.

I just need to take a specific course. What are the fees?

It is not possible to purchase a single course. All Medmastery subscriptions come with full access to all of our content.

When can I cancel?

You can schedule a cancellation anytime. Changes will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

Is it possible to pause my subscription?

We understand that it may sometimes be convenient to take a pause. However, pausing a subscription is not possible.

Is Medmastery a recurring subscription?

Medmastery is set up as a recurring subscription service. You will be charged once per year, or month, depending on your subscription, and have access to each new course that is released, as well as our full course library of existing courses.

Which payment methods do you accept?

You can pay for your Medmastery subscription in two ways:

  1. PayPal
  2. Credit card

Both modes of payment are highly secure, but should you encounter any trouble, don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

I don’t live in the United States (my currency is not USD). Can I purchase a Medmastery Membership anyway?

Yes, absolutely! Even if the price of the course is not displayed in your own currency, the amount will be automatically converted to your currency by your bank (at the current exchange rate).

How can I get a refund?

If you want to get a refund, please contact us by writing to [email protected]

Does the money-back guarantee apply to me?

We have a 30-day money-back guarantee which makes our offer absolutely risk-free for you! If you are not completely happy, we’ll return 100% of your money—just contact us at [email protected] within the 30 day time frame. But please be aware that our money-back guarantee is not applicable on Pro Subscriptions once CME credits have been claimed and can only be claimed once per account (i.e. first subscribers only).

I wasn’t aware that this is a recurring membership. Now I’ve been charged again, even though I don't want the subscription anymore. Should I raise a dispute?

There is no need to raise a dispute. If you have been charged again, but you want to cancel your subscription renewal, please contact us directly at [email protected]. Together, we will be able to quickly work out a solution and, in the vast majority of cases, will be happy to fully refund your last payment.

Where can I find my invoice(s)?

You can access all of your invoices from your Medmastery profile. Please open the Subscription section (from the drop-down menu on the top right hand side of the page) of your account, and click on the Subscription details button. Your invoices will wait for you in the Payment history section, ready to be downloaded!

Content and learning

How are your lessons taught? Are there any onsite classes?

We do not offer any onsite classes. Our lessons come in bite-sized videos (~ 5–8 min), with a few videos constituting a chapter and several chapters constituting a full course. While the videos can only be accessed online, most courses offer downloadable materials as well (e.g., handbooks), to facilitate offline learning and repetition.

How long will a course take me to complete?

The minimal amount of time a course will take to complete can be roughly estimated from the number of CME credits it awards. One credit stands for approximately one hour of study. This consists of watching the videos and completing the quizzes. The amount of additional time a learner may need to look up information, take notes, repeat videos, etc., is highly dependent on prior knowledge in a given area, as well as the individual’s learning style.

How do you assess progress? Will there be an exam at the end?

Assessment happens as the course progresses. Each chapter ends with a multiple choice quiz. In order to pass the quiz, learners must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly. In order to pass the course, learners must successfully pass all of the quizzes.

Can I repeat a quiz if I fail the first time?

Sure! The number of times a quiz can be repeated is unlimited.

Can I download the videos to study offline?

Our videos cannot be downloaded—they are only available online. But most courses come with downloadable materials such as handbooks and / or fact sheets to facilitate offline learning and repetition. These can be found on the mid-to-lower, right-hand side of a respective course’s page.

Can I sort and / or delete courses in the “My courses” section?

No, this is not possible.

CME Questions

Which types of CME credits do you offer?

You can earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ and European CME credits (ECMECs) when completing Medmastery workshops or courses. Medmastery has entered into a joint providership with CME Consultants, which is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for clinicians. Moreover, our platform is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), which has mutual recognition agreements with over twenty European countries.

I’m from outside the USA and Europe. Are the CME credits recognized where I live?

Many countries and professional boards accept the credits we provide to our learners. Our CME Guide should be able to help you. If not, please contact your local professional body about the conversion modalities.

How many CME credits will I be able to earn through Medmastery?

The Pro Subscription will give you access to all Medmastery courses and workshops—worth over 350 CME credits!

I’m not a physician. Will I be able to use your CME credits?

That depends upon your professional body. Most of them will allow you to convert AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to their system. Our CME Guide provides more in-depth information about the matter. If you need more information, please contact your professional body first.

I am a Basic member, can I claim CMEs?

No. In order to claim CMEs, you need to upgrade to the Pro Membership.

Institutional and Group subscriptions

I really like Medmastery and I believe our organization could use such a resource. What does Medmastery offer for institutions?

That is great to hear! We offer Group subscriptions with different pricing plans for institutions—Basic and Pro. Every Group subscription comes with access to an individual administrator dashboard, 100% access to all of our courses, workshops (without any limitations), as well as individualized support.

In addition, you and your colleagues can claim either CME Certificates (Pro) or Certificates of Completion (Basic).

We are aware of how important it is to understand exactly what we provide before making a final decision. That is why you can request a one-month, free-of-charge group subscription (all features included) to test the platform and content from our Medmastery team. To request your free trial, please feel free to contact our sales team.

What does a Medmastery Group subscription come with?

It does come with

  • A complementary account for the group owner
  • Your own administrator dashboard, allowing you to manage the group individually (you can add, remove, and track your members’ activities)
  • Full access for every member (including the group administrator) to all of our courses, workshops, and webinars—without any restrictions!
  • Much, much more!

For more information, please contact our Medmastery team at [email protected].

Can we test Medmastery’s offer to institutions before making a final decision?

Yes! We would be happy to help you out with this! We offer a 14-day trial to anyone interested in a Medmastery Group subscription who would like to test our offer before making a final decision. To request your free trial, please feel free to contact our sales team.

Please note that our trial account is limited to 5 licenses.

I am interested in a Medmastery Group subscription. Who can I contact for more information?

You can contact our Medmastery team with any questions you may have about our Group subscriptions at [email protected]. We are always happy to help!

I have several groups of residents coming and going throughout the year. What type of subscription do you recommend?

That depends on each case individually. We definitely can accommodate the different number of members over a certain period, but it is best to determine an individual solution together with our Medmastery experts. To get the best solution for you and your students, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Our free trial expires soon, but I don’t want to leave. Our staff and residents love Medmastery! How can we stay on board?

We’re very happy to hear that! To seamlessly transition from your free trial to a paid Group subscription, please contact our Medmastery team at [email protected]. We’ll make sure that your institution receives a quote for the number of licenses you need. Once the quote is approved by your institution, we will change the status of your group from trial to active. Your group will then start a new billing period, allowing you and your group members to continue having full access to all of our resources.

We are considering purchasing a Medmastery Group subscription. How much does it cost?

The cost of your Group subscription depends on the number of licenses you need. The general rule is that the more licenses you purchase, the higher the discount. Our standard billing period is one year but we can arrange for a shorter billing period if needed. The Pro Group membership, on top of the Basic Group membership features, will allow your group to claim CME credits for their completed courses and workshops.
If you’d like to request more information on our pricing, please send us a quick message at [email protected]

What is your licensing system?

Our Group subscriptions are based on a licensing system. Each license represents access for one ggroup member. The licenses work a little like seats on a bus—the administrator can remove a group member and assign another one (for a respective license) an unlimited number of times without any additional cost!

Does the Group subscription come with any limitations for me or my members?

Every Group subscription comes with full access to 100% of Medmastery’s content without any limitations for you or your members.

How can I invite my colleagues to my group?

Follow these steps...

  • Log into your account
  • Go to your administrator dashboard (menu tab “Group”)
  • Click on “Add member”
  • Type in / copy-paste your colleagues’ email addresses
  • Click on “Invite”
I do not have time to manage a group myself. Can someone else take over the management of my group?

Yes! As the owner of the Group subscription, you can appoint any of your members as a "manager”, giving that person access to the administrator dashboard. Otherwise, only the owner can see the dashboard and manage the group.

Do the licences I purchased have an expiration date? If I am not using all of them this billing period, can I use the remaining ones later?

Unfortunately, that is not possible. Every group has a billing period (usually one year) during which time you can either use (or not use) the licences you purchased—we do not monitor your activity. If you do not use all of the licences during the billing period, you will still pay for them and cannot transfer the unused licences into your next billing period. You can, however, always extend your group by a few more licences!

My colleagues and I are big fans of Medmastery’s content. Unfortunately, our institution is not willing to finance a Group subscription. What can we do?

We’re very sorry to hear that and we’ll do our best to make our content available for you!
First of all, consider requesting a price estimate from our team, anyway. Group subscriptions come at a considerable discount, so if you’re interested in purchasing access to Medmastery content, it might be the most beneficial option. Are you teaching students or residents? How many of you are interested in a membership? Which kind of membership are you looking for? Provide as much information as possible and we’ll see if we can come up with a group discount that will work for you.

If you think a Group subscription is not for you, talk to our support team at [email protected] to learn more about the options available for individual memberships.
